The Ho’oponopono Prayer: Listen and Pray Together to Floww Healing Energy Yourself, Ancestors, Others and the World Around You

The Ho’oponopono prayer is a traditional Hawaiian practice rooted in forgiveness, reconciliation, and clearing energy between individuals, families, and even within oneself. The word itself means “to make things right” or “restore balance,” and its purpose is to heal relationships and dissolve negative energies that create disharmony... I'm sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you. I love you...
This prayer has become widely recognized in recent years as a simple yet profound tool for healing ourselves and the world.

Ho’oponopono originated as a communal practice led by a kahuna, or spiritual leader, in which family members would come together to resolve conflicts and restore harmony. The process emphasized the interconnectedness of all beings and the need to release harmful energy. In the 20th century, Hawaiian healer Morrnah Nalamaku Simeona adapted the practice for individual use. This adaptation distilled the essence of Ho’oponopono into a four-phrase prayer: “I’m sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you. I love you.”

Additionally, Dr. Ihaleakala Hew Len gained worldwide recognition for his work with Ho’oponopono. He became widely known after sharing his transformative experience as a psychologist at a Hawaiian state hospital, where he helped heal a ward of mentally ill criminals not through direct interaction but by using Ho’oponopono to cleanse his own energy and perceptions.

Dr. Hew Len’s collaboration with Joe Vitale resulted in the book
Zero Limits: The Secret Hawaiian System for Wealth, Health, Peace, and More, which brought this method to a global audience. In Zero Limits, Dr. Hew Len explains how the practice of repeating simple affirmations—"I’m sorry, please forgive me, thank you, I love you"—can heal emotional wounds, dissolve limiting beliefs, and align one's energy with Divine-Floww. His teachings emphasize the power of self-cleaning to affect not only personal healing but also the collective well-being of humanity.

At this time in history, humanity is awakening to a deeper understanding of energy and consciousness. The Ho’oponopono prayer resonates powerfully because it offers an accessible way to release burdens, clear stuck energy, and return to a state of love. Its simplicity is part of its power, reminding us that we have the ability to shift our energy and impact the world around us.

As we work with these sacred words, we invite Divine-Energy to floww through our be-ing, clearing and uplifting all that no longer serves us. The four phrases:

I’m sorry.

Please forgive me.

Thank you.

I love you.

works on multiple levels. “I’m sorry” is an acknowledgment of our role in creating or holding onto disharmony. “Please forgive me” invites release and freedom from guilt or resentment. “Thank you” expresses gratitude, one of the highest vibrational states. “I love you” aligns us with the ultimate truth of our existence. Together, these phrases work as vibrational healing, allowing divine energy to floww gently into our Heart and Soul, replacing old energies with higher vibrations of peace and love.

There is also a longer, traditional version of the Ho’oponopono prayer, which incorporates elements of calling upon the Divine-Creator, addressing ancestors, and engaging in a sacred process of reconciliation. This version can be particularly powerful in ceremonial settings or intentional healing sessions.

Divine Creator, Father, Mother, Child as One...

If I, my family, relatives, and ancestors have offended you, your family, relatives, and ancestors, in thoughts, words, deeds, and actions, from the beginning of our creation to the present, we ask for your forgiveness.

Let this cleanse, purify, release, cut all the negative memories, blocks, energies, and vibrations, and transmute these unwanted energies to Pure Light... and it is done.

I’m sorry.
Please forgive me.
Thank you.
I love you.

I forgive myself.
I forgive you.
I release you.
I set you free.

Peace be with you, all my peace, the peace of “I,” the peace of Source Energy.
I am peaceful, calm, and relaxed, and I am one with the Light of Love."

Whether you choose the short or long version, the intention remains the same: to release and restore harmony within yourself and your relationships. The flowwing of forgiveness through the words of the prayer cleanses not only our energy but also the energy of those connected to us.

To practice Ho’oponopono, find a quiet space where you can reflect. Begin by focusing on a specific situation, relationship, or emotion you would like to heal. You can recite the four phrases silently or aloud, repeating them as often as feels right. If using the longer version, read or recite it with the intention to let go and forgive. Allow the words to move through you, clearing stagnant energy and creating space for new possibilities.

The Ho’oponopono prayer is a form of energy healing. It acknowledges that everything is energy—our thoughts, emotions, and interactions—and that negative energy can become stuck, creating disharmony. By consciously engaging with the prayer, we release these blocks, allowing energy to floww freely and transmute into higher vibrations. This not only heals the individual but also contributes to uplifting the collective consciousness.

What makes Ho’oponopono so profound is that it teaches us responsibility. It reminds us that we can choose to shift our beliefs, thoughts, and emotions to align with love and peace. When practiced consistently, this prayer becomes a powerful tool for self-transformation and a way to bring Light to the world. It is a way to heal ourselves and others, dissolving the illusion of separation and returning to the truth that we are all connected.

May this prayer find its way to everyone who wants or needs it.

Be well... and go with the Floww...

Love,

Jennifer
